The American Board of Pediatrics

Maintenance of Certification (MOC)

The continuous and ongoing process of lifelong learning, self-assessment and clinical improvement that board-certified pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists perform to maintain certification with the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) is called Maintenance of Certification (MOC).

MOC assures pediatric patients and their families that ABP-certified pediatricians are actively working to stay up to date with the most current medical knowledge over the course of time that they practice medicine.

ABP and the 23 other certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), collaborated to create the four-part structure of MOC, Professional Standing (Part 1); Self-Assessment (Part 2), Exam / Moca-Peds (Part 3), Quality Improvement (Part 4).

The American Board of Family Medicine

Continue Certification
Performance Improvement (PI)

American Board of Family Medicine is proud to partner with Diplomates pursuing lifelong learning, self-assessment, and clinical improvement. Family Medicine Certification (FMC) is a continuous, voluntary process that emphasizes the importance of ongoing participation in activities that assess important physician characteristics: Professionalism, Self-Assessment, Performance Improvement, and Cognitive Expertise. We believe these characteristics encourage clinical excellence that benefits both you and your patients.
