Advanced Metrics and SEEKonline
Advanced Metrics
Advanced Metrics (AMS) develops innovative software solutions that encourage human centered, collaborative decision making. Founded in 2012 by a group of leading healthcare professionals and a team of talented engineers, AMS is driven by the belief that proven science can be infused into clinical practice and enhance the therapeutic alliance. Howard Dubowitz, MD, MS, FAAP has been pleased to partner with Advanced Metrics to bring the Safe Environment for Every Kid (SEEK) approach to busy healthcare professionals through SEEKonline, a web-based software solution.
SEEKonline
Safe Environment for Every Kid (SEEK) is an evidence-based psychosocial prevention and intervention approach for primary care practices serving children. The SEEK approach assists healthcare professionals to identify and address targeted risk factors for child abuse and neglect in families with young children. SEEKonline takes the SEEK approach and furthers its usability through agile and accessible software.
Prior to a child’s appointment, SEEKonline’s Parent Questionnaire-R (PQ-R) can be completed electronically, at home, by a caregiver. SEEKonline resources and guided discussion can be accessed in the primary care provider’s office before or during a child’s checkup. Customized caregiver plans and handouts are easily printed as a take home resource for the family.
SEEKonline seamlessly integrates into a primary care practice’s electronic health record (EHR) or is used as a standalone system. Information can be selected for documentation in a child’s EHR or directed to a private portal in the EHR. SEEKonline data is stored on a fully HIPPA compliant online portal, operated in an isolated, secure, and private cloud environment.
The Benefits of SEEKonline
- Specialized, training videos regarding the problems targeted by SEEK are embedded within SEEKonline.
- Meaningful Use. SEEKonline supports “meaningful use” reporting requirements that address Clinical Quality indicators associated with National Quality Strategy domains.
- Monitoring of Progress. SEEKonline stores caregiver responses allowing monitoring of change over time. Aggregate reports are available and can identify trends within a practice and can also be used as a needs assessment of the population served.
- Prompting provides health care providers with suggested wording for assessing a positive screen and addressing barriers to care.
- Customized Resources. Caregiver plans and handouts can be customized to include locally available resources.
- The use of CPT code 96161 offers revenue generating opportunities for practices using the SEEK approach.
Active recruitment for SEEKonline pilot sites is currently underway!
The process to pilot SEEKonline begins with a readiness assessment of the health care practice. This includes reviewing practitioner’s familiarity with the SEEK approach and the practice’s technology resources. Selected practitioners and staff are engaged to identify EHR integration needs and trained in SEEKonline. SEEKonline will be deployed for a twelve-month pilot. During this time, the practice will receive support from Advanced Metrics and periodic check-ins to ensure the software works smoothly. There is no cost to participating in the SEEKonline pilot.
If you or your practice is interested in learning more about SEEKonline or the pilot, please contact Steve Herr, PhD, or Anna Erb, DSW, LCSW, NADD-CC, at Advanced Metrics.
